In the United Kingdom and prominent land-based and online sportsbook operator Entain has reportedly inked a deal that is to see it acquire American eSports betting provider Unikrn Incorporated.

According to a Thursday report from the Financial Times newspaper, the London-listed firm revealed that the purchase will cost it around £50 million ($69.1 million), which is to include expenses associated with further developing the acquisition’s eSports platform so as to be better able to exploit a market widely considered to be worth approximately £1.4 billion ($2 billion).

Considerable clout:

Previously known as GVC Holdings until undergoing a late-2020 name change, Entain is already responsible for a slew of online casino and sportsbetting domains that include Ladbrokes.com, Bwin.com, Coral.co.uk and Sportingbet.com as well as its home nation’s Ladbrokes and Coral-branded chains of high street bookmakers. The newspaper reported that the company will now become the…

Fox Corporation files lawsuit over FanDuel Group valuation dispute

American media conglomerate Fox Corporation has reportedly filed a lawsuit against British iGaming behemoth Flutter Entertainment concerning its upcoming option on a 18.6% stake in prominent online sportsbook operator FanDuel Group.

According to a Tuesday report from American broadcaster CNBC, London-listed Flutter Entertainment spent approximately $4.2 billion in December so as to purchase a 37.5% stake in FanDuel Group and take its aggregate holding in the sportbetting firm up to around 95%. Complicating cooperation:

‘A huge mistake’- Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber rails against Halo TV show sex scene, says he ‘wasn’t listened to’ when he argued against it-

In 1895, our forefathers watched a train arrive at La Ciotat station. In 1969, families gathered to watch mankind take its first tentative steps beyond the surface of our planet. In 2022, Master Chief had sex.

It was the television event of the century, but it turns out not everyone was on board. In a recent chat with SFX magazine (via GamesRadar), Master Chief actor Pablo Schreiber revealed that he was adamantly against John-117’s hook-up with Covenant spy Makee. I mean really adamant. He’s not mincing words here, telling SFX that making John and Makee an item in the show’s first season was “a huge mistake.”

Schreiber makes it sound like he really dug his heels in, too, but to no avail. “I argued against it and fought against it,” he said, “But I am who I am. I don’t write the scripts. I only give my opinion.” Alas, “It wasn’t listened to.”

Schreiber reflects a lot of fan sentiment on the thorny issue of Big John’s love life. When the episode in question …

AMD’s upcoming Zen 5 CPUs predicted to be the biggest upgrade since the original Zen chips-

AMD’s next-gen Zen 5 CPU is shaping up very nicely. Well, it is according to the latest rumours which indicate the new CPU design will crank out roughly 30 percent more performance than AMD’s existing Zen 4 architecture, as used in Ryzen 7000 Series chips like the Ryzen 9 7950X. That would make Zen 5 the biggest ever upgrade since the original Zen CPUs arrived back in 2017.

The latest purported data dump comes from YouTube channel RedGamingTech. A number of rough performance estimates for multiple core configurations are provided.

According to the channel, the 16-core variant of Zen 5 will knock out around 49,000 points in the multi-threaded run of Cinebench R23. That compares with the 38,000 points that the Ryzen 9 7950X achieves. Similar uplifts are claimed for 12, eight, and six-core configurations.

So, yeah, explicit in there is that the core counts aren’t expected to change for Zen 5. As for single-threaded performance, results in the mid to high 2…

‘Nothing beats the real thing’- Horror game composer used miniature oil rig to play ‘non-human’ music-

Jason Graves describes his score for The Chinese Room’s newest horror game, set on a mining rig in the middle of the ocean, as a split between the human and non-human. Specifically, a combination of live musicians and a custom-made sound sculpture that can be “tapped, bowed, scraped, or rubbed.”

Created by Matt McConnell (of McConnell Studios), the metal sculpture stands on four legs—just like the oil rig in the game—and has miniature structures welded on top. It screeches and wails as Graves slides a violin bow over its crude shape. “It makes all these different sounds and they’re about as non-human and non-emotionally-tender or sensitive as you can get,” he said in a trailer from the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted today.

“I believe nothing beats the real thing, especially when it comes to instruments and other sound-making devices,” Graves told PC Gamer. “And I also love the idea of collaborating with musicians, or in this case, a sculptor. The end re…
